The Words Still Echo, "Crucify"!
By Ron Henry

There is a place called Calvary,
where Jesus died for you and me.
The Son left heaven to become man.
It was necessary for God to have such a plan.
We as sinners come short of His glory.
God's word the bible tells us this story.
Jesus knew the cross was His destiny,
He had to go there, to save you and me.
We sent Him there to suffer and die,
we are the one's that cried, "Crucify, Crucify"!
He was betrayed and taken away,
He could have called angels to save Him that day.
He was beaten with fists and slapped in the face,
blindfolded, spit on, despised and disgraced.
He was struck with a rod and hit on the head,
we should have suffered, but He did instead.
Sure He was God, but He was man too,
He had feelings and felt pain just as we do.
He was innocent of crime, you can't deny.
But the crowd yelled louder, "Crucify, Crucify"!
A crown of thorns was pushed down on His brow,
piercing His flesh He was bleeding now.
Blood seeped down His face to mix with the spit,
from the railers and scoffers that wouldn't quit.
He was stripped and flogged until He bled,
They pushed the sharp thorns further into His head.
The hair was plucked out of His beaten face.
In agony He endured and took our place.
We sent Him to the cross to suffer and die,
and the words still echo, "Crucify, Crucify"!
He carried the cross our burden to bear,
for all the sins of the world, everywhere.
Up the long dusty path He slowly trod,
knowing He was to be sacrificed as the Lamb of God.
He collapsed in pain, He endured all He could.
Then they drove spikes through His hands and into the wood.
They pounded them through His feet below,
with agonizing pain in every blow.
We put him on the cross to suffer and die
and the words still echo, "Crucify, Crucify"!
They raised the cross and dropped it in the hole
ripping His flesh, sending pain through body, spirit and soul.
He hung on the cross, exhausted and beat,
blood dripping from His head, His hands and His feet.
Every sin of the world was on Him hanging there.
The burden so great almost too much to bear.
As He hung suspended between heaven and earth,
He looked back to the reason for His birth.
Yes, we put Him there, to suffer and die,
and the words still echo, "Crucify, Crucify"!
The earth grew dark as He hung there that day.
The sin debt was covered, now there's no price to pay.
He shouted aloud, "It is finished", as He drew His last breath
and gave up His spirit at the time of his death.
They pierced His side, blood came from within,
His blood was shed for forgiveness of sin.
So thank God for Jesus the victor,/ is won.
There is forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life in the Son.
He hung there for us, to suffer and die.
The words still echo, "Crucify, Crucify, Crucify"!
